Write the Code: Colors to Shapes 3

    * Available in A4 & US Letter formats

This Write the Code: Colors to Shapes worksheet completes Set 1 of the series and gives children a chance to apply a familiar rule with growing independence.

At this stage, children already understand how the activity works. They recognize the colors, remember which shapes match each color, and use that information to draw accurately. This worksheet focuses on confidence and consistency, helping children feel successful while strengthening early logic skills.

    What’s Included in This Worksheet

This worksheet is designed to support independent practice and includes:

    • A clear color–shape key shown at the top of the page
    • Four consistent colors, each paired with one simple, familiar shape
    • Five new coding problems, each showing four colors in a different order
    • Large, open drawing spaces that give children room to draw shapes comfortably
    • A clean, simple layout that helps children focus without distractions

The format remains the same as the previous pages, allowing children to concentrate on applying the rule rather than learning something new.

How This Worksheet Supports Independent Thinking

By the third worksheet, many children no longer need constant reminders. They begin to:

    • Check the color–shape key on their own
    • Pause and think before drawing
    • Notice mistakes and correct them

This type of self monitoring is an important early learning skill. Children are not just following instructions, they are thinking through a rule and applying it independently.

    How to Use This Worksheet

This worksheet works well in both guided and independent settings:

    1. Briefly review the color–shape key before starting.
    2. Encourage your child to work through each problem one at a time.
    3. Allow children to check the key whenever they need, this is part of learning.
    4. Focus on effort and careful thinking rather than perfect drawings.
    5. Talk about the finished worksheet and ask which problem they enjoyed most.

This activity can be completed using pencils, crayons, or washable markers and reused when placed in a dry erase sleeve.

    Skills This Worksheet Supports

Completing this worksheet helps children strengthen:

    • Logical reasoning
    • Rule following
    • Shape recognition
    • Visual discrimination
    • Working memory
    • Fine motor coordination
    • Pre-writing control

These skills are essential building blocks for later learning in math, handwriting, and problem solving.

Why This Worksheet Completes Set 1

Set 1 is designed to introduce and reinforce the core idea of coding through colors and shapes.
By the end of this worksheet, children have practiced the same rule multiple times, helping it become familiar and comfortable.

This prepares them well for Set 2, where additional colors and shapes will be introduced while keeping the same basic logic structure.

    Who This Worksheet Is For

    This worksheet is ideal for:

    • Preschool classrooms
    • Kindergarten readiness activities
    • Homeschool learning
    • Early learning centers
    • At home practice with parents

Children can complete the worksheets in any order, but working through them sequentially helps build confidence step by step.
